Echoes of light
One of our main goals is to keep a global perspective in every project while designing with the sensitivity of a local. With experience in over 18 countries, we know that creating from a local perspective not only involves understanding the terrain and bioclimatic conditions but also leveraging each city’s unique features: society, culture, customs, and more.
Today, we focus on Torremolinos, located in the beautiful Costa del Sol, south of Málaga, just steps away from Playa de la Carihuela.

DESIGN CHALLENGE
The first challenge we faced was the shape and location of the land. With irregular boundaries and a triangular terrain oriented south towards the sea, controlling sunlight was crucial. The client’s main need was to create private spaces, both indoors and outdoors, for the residents. The project included the construction of 14 residences.
PROPOSAL
Drawing inspiration from the interplay of light and shadow through palm fronds and pergolas, we proposed vertical blinds that enhance the facade’s rhythm, effectively controlling and directing sunlight. These blinds, along with pergolas, offer privacy by creating visual patterns with shadows. We designed south-facing gardens and side terraces that filter sunlight, providing privacy to the spaces.
